This project was developed and presented by Jeremy Johnston in cooperation with Didem Ozbëk and Osman Bozkurt as part of a residency at PiST/// Interdisciplinary Project Space in August and September of 2012. Open for Installation is a collaborative workshop based on organizing and producing an art exhibition. The participants work directly with artists to organize, design and install exhibitions from initial concept meeting through installation, opening and de-installation in rapid succession. Ideally, the entire process is open to the public and invites community participation.
The primary goal of the workshop is to introduce young artists, curators, and arts professionals to the techniques and complexities of museum and gallery installation and encourage a free discussion of critical issues and similarities/differences between art exhibition spaces, communities and methodologies.
